Joseph Nicéphore Niépce
Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. French. Not a photographer, more of an inventor. Patented a combustion engine and moved to England. Attracted to lithography, but couldn't draw, so he placed engravings on light-sensitive varnished stone and he called it Heliography. Thus, producing the first permanent photograph of nature. 1826. The photo was called "View from the Window at Le Gras" It was taken at Niépce's residence in France I think called Le Gras haha. It took 8 hours to make the exposure. It now resides at the University of Texas for some reason yeeyuh.
